LPF Fast Cycle Machine
The next generation LPF
Fast Cycle Machine (MCM.V.280) has been developed by the CMT Group
and is the result of detailed studies carried out in conjunction
with various component manufacturers. This new series of metal
composite machines is available in a wide range of sizes from
small laboratory machines for research and development purposes
to large scale plant for mass production.
The design of the MCM.V.280 is based upon a 280
tonne vertical clamping machine, which has been appropriately
modified for the economical casting of MMC
components by using the CMT Group’s innovative melt
injection system. The machine operates on a vacuum-pressure cycle
and consists essentially of a split die located vertically above
a furnace pressure vessel containing molten metal, and connected
via a riser tube. In operation the system can experience pressure
excursions in the range of 1 mbar to 22 bar, with a minimum casting
cycle time of approximately 2 minutes, plus between 1 to 10 minutes
for cooling depending upon component size. Obviously, productivity
can be considerably increased by the use of multi-cavity shuttled
dies.
If required, the MCM Series 2 machine can be
linked to various optional automation equipment, such as die sprayers,
dosing furnaces and robotic arms for preform loading and casting
removal, which provide fully automated production for optimum
efficiency.
